 Director of Business Development--ProfitScope

North Star Navigators is looking for a person to generate qualified leads for our ProfitScope division. ProfitScope is an accounting and financial management service that helps clients achieve profitable growth. Our customized services range from day to day accounting to financial management and business planning. Our ProfitScope team makes sure that our clients have the information they need to make informed decisions. We are different because we help drive profit rather than just report it.

Potential clients are small and medium size companies that want to improve their profits, and need better information. Often they are making changes or experiencing growth. They accept outsourcing as a way to get expertise at the level they need.

Skills needed: A successful candidate will possess an accounting background and general business acumen, sales aptitude, and the ability and desire to work independently in a "virtual company" environment.

Environment: North Star Navigators is a virtual company. All of our consultants work from their homes. We provide tools such as voice mail, email and pagers to stay in close communication, but expect each professional to manage work and solve problems independently. The salesperson will be empowered to plan and implement sales strategies, and to report on the outcome of those strategies. This work will be accomplished in an environment without close supervision.

Characteristics of success:

Accounting background: An accounting background is needed in order to be able to effectively communicate the benefits of our services, and to apply our capabilities to each business owner’s unique circumstances.

Sales Aptitude: A successful salesperson will gain a good initial understanding of ProfitScope and how we are unique. (S)he will then be able to contact business owners, get the business owners to talk about their needs, and assess their need for ProfitScope.

Independence: The ability and desire to work independently is a critical success factor for anyone with NSN. It is important that the salesperson derive satisfaction from the new contacts made each day, not from the reinforcement of co-workers.
